Somerset Man with a Van: migrating a Taunton removals business from WordPress to Digital Footprint
Somerset Man with a Van is a removals business run by Kev, recently out of the Royal Navy, offering house and flat removals, man and van work, house clearances and long-distance collections. Based in Taunton, the business covers Bridgwater, Wellington, Minehead and the wider Somerset area, backed by fully insured cover including public liability up to £2,000,000.
The brief
The existing website was built on WordPress and had started to feel like more trouble than it was worth to keep updated and secure. Enquiries came in as vague phone calls and emails, with no easy way for a prospective customer to lay out exactly what they needed moved, from where, to where, and whether there'd be stairs, lifts or awkward access involved.
The brief was to migrate the site away from WordPress onto a platform that was straightforward to manage day to day, and to build a proper quote request process that captured the details of a move up front, so Kev could give an accurate price without endless back and forth. With the business built on trust — an ex-Royal Navy founder, full insurance, a small team of removal specialists — the site also needed to put those credentials front and centre.
What we did
We migrated the website from WordPress onto our own Digital Footprint platform, rebuilding the site around the services on offer — House & Flat Removals, Man & Van, House Clearance and Long-Distance & Collections — along with a dedicated Vehicles & Dimensions page showing the fleet of long wheelbase Luton, Mercedes-Benz Sprinter and Vauxhall Vivaro vans, and an Areas Covered page setting out coverage across Taunton, Bridgwater, Wellington, Minehead, the wider Somerset area and UK-wide collections.
We built a detailed quote request form that asks for the information Kev actually needs to price a job properly — moving from and to addresses, floor level and lift availability — cutting out the guesswork and back-and-forth that came with phone and email enquiries alone.
Trust runs through the whole site: Kev's Royal Navy background, the team of removal specialists working alongside him, and clear public liability and goods-in-transit insurance figures are all given proper prominence, alongside a reviews page so new customers can see what past customers have made of the service.
Technology & integrations
Digital Footprint Platform
The new website platform, replacing the previous WordPress site and giving Kev a much simpler way to manage content.
Detailed Quote Request Form
A multi-field enquiry form capturing move-specific details — addresses, floor levels and lift access — so quotes can be priced accurately first time.
The result
Somerset Man with a Van now has a website that's far simpler to manage behind the scenes, with a quote request process that gives Kev the information he needs to price jobs properly, and a site that puts the business's insurance, experience and military discipline front and centre for anyone weighing it up against the bigger removal firms.
"He delivered a faster website and improved the website visually and also added SEO for Google to push me up the SERPs. Great work and very happy with the results." Kev, Somerset Man with a Van
